Thank you to everyone who made CanQueue 2011 a success!

Dear All,

Now we are 4 weeks away from our conference in Banff and we will see you there. The following items are very important, so please read them carefully.

1. Now you must have an official invitation from Nassif Ghoussoub, the Scientific Director, Banff International Research Station. It is important to know that the check-in will be on FRIDAY AUG 26th AT 4:00pm and check-out will be onSUNDAY AUG 28th AT NOON.

2. Everybody can have guests who will share his/her room for free. Please let me (javad.tavakoli@ubc.ca

) or Jim Nastos (nastos@gmail.com) know if you have any guest, then we have to inform BIRS coordinator for the arrangement.

3. For those of you want to stay more than two nights, before or/and after the conference, please follow the instructions given in your invitation letter.

4. I encourage you to visit the webpage if you get a chance, where we always update our webpage.

5. Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner: We are going to have one banquet on Friday night, one dinner Saturday night, two lunches and two breakfast. Hopefully, your registration fee will cover the cost.

6. Please make sure that you have cash or cheque (no credit card please) for your registration fee (please visit the webpage for the amount) which will be collected on Friday 26th of August in registration desk.

Conference Date: August 26-28, 2011

As we announced in Hecla Island Resort in Manitoba at CanQueue 2010, we are hosting CanQueue 2011 (13th Annual Conference for Canadian Queueing Theorists and Practitioners). We are pleased to announce that our conference will be held in the Banff International Research Station (BIRS), Alberta. In order to secure a booking and have rooms reserved, we need to commit early and provide a deposit. The date of the conference is August 26-28, 2011.

Third Announcement


Dear All,

We have received responses from some of our colleagues who are interested to attend the CanQueue11 which will be held on August 26-28, 2011, in Banff, Alberta.

As you may know, we need at least the list of participants to send out to BIRS. In a previous announcement, we posted a deadline of May 20, 2011, now we would like to extend this date to June 1, 2011. If you are interested in attending CanQueue11, and have not yet notified us, please do so by this new deadline.

A list of participants will appear as soon as possible.

Second Announcement


Dear Colleagues,

    1. As you might know, BIRS provides free accommodations for all participants. However, in order to make reservations we need a complete list of participants as soon as possible. If you are interested to attend the conference and have not yet informed us please do so.
    2. In order to provide foods we need to charge each of participant as follows:
      (a) Faculty $200.00
      (c) Graduate Student 100.00
      (b) Spouse  $150.00Note: We prefer to receive the payment on Thursday August 25th or Friday August 26th 2011 at the registration desk. However, for those who want to pay by cheque we will provide an account number very soon.
    3. For those who travel to Calgary by plane please check the website www.BanffAirporter.com for information about the shuttle going from Calgary airport to Banff.
    4. Funds for Graduate Students:There is some money for graduate students’ travel expenses. Please encourage your students to attend the conference, present a talk, and apply for the fund.

We will put up the deposit required but first we need to know how many people think they will attend the CanQueue 2011. Please send me an email in the next one or two weeks to let me know.
